Today, I was again eating in the Hawks Nest with friends. We were sitting next to a group of white men who were discussing Donald Trump. They were discussing how we really need to build that wall and keep all of the "filthy Mexican immigrants" out of our country. They discussed how we need to get the Muslims out before they destroy us, and how only the true Americans should be allowed to stay. This made me extremely uncomfortable because what they were saying was so awful and racist, and because my views are so different. There was a lot of false information they said too. All Mexican people in America are not immigrants and especially are not filthy. Most are legal citizens of the United States. Also, Muslims are not here to destroy us. The Muslim population in America are Americans, just because they are Muslim does not mean that they are terrorists or bad people in any way. If others witnessed this conversation that did not interject at all. Ever since Trump became a presidential candidate I have heard a lot more people speaking in this way about other races.
