Day One

Today I was sitting in the Hawks Nest eating lunch with a few friends. A white kid called his African American friend the "n" word. The friend smacked his white friend, and told him to shut his damn mouth. Then they both laughed. My friends also heard this happen and they laughed it off. I did not address the situation I only observed it. It made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable until they started laughing, their laughter put me more at ease.
